Last month, Dr Sarah Chen and her team of five scientists embarked on an exciting expedition to the Arctic. They wanted to conducts a study on how climate change was affecting the polar bears and their habitat. The team packed warm clothing, scientific skuipment and enough food supplies for three weeks. The temperature was -30°C when they arrived at the research station. The breadthtaking landscape, with endless stretches of white snow and ice. Huge icebergs floated silence in the dark blue ocean, creating a magnificent sight. On their first day, the scientists spotted a family of polar bears in the distence. The mother bear was teaching her two cubs how to hunt for seals. Dr Chen carefully observed their behave through her binoculars and recorded detailed notes. She noticed that the bears had to travel much than usual to find food because the ice was thinner as compared to previous years. The team discovered that the ice was melting faster than expected. This worry them because polar bears depend on the ice to hunt and survive. Despite the harsh conditions and freezing winds, the team completed their research successfully.
