Passage

Many people are impressed by how quickly crimes are solved in Singapore. This is achieved a combination of technology, expertise and public cooperation.

Many public places are equipped security cameras which capture footage that may later be used as evidence. When a crime is reported, investigators examine the recordings carefully to determine suspects have been and they may have contacted.

Valuable evidence such as fingerprints collected from crime scenes and analysed by trained specialists. The results can help investigators identify individuals whose involvement been suspected. Investigators evaluate evidence carefully and consider multiple possibilities reaching conclusions.

Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious behaviour and provide information, no matter insignificant it may seem. Witnesses can often provide details that cameras or other evidence cannot capture.

Officers from different departments communicate quickly and share information. This close cooperation leads to cases solved efficiently. New tools enable officers to process information more rapidly in the past.

Today, Singapore remains one of the safest countries in the world.
