Have you heard of the Purple Parade? Every year, this event brings people together to celebrate the inclusivity individuals with special needs. By wearing purple to the event, it is hoped that national awareness of the needs of these people be raised.
Purple is a great choice of colour – it has been considered the colour of royalty. In fact, not could wear purple! It was reserved for the upper class in the past. Some Roman emperors even forbade people from wearing it. Purple dye in days came from tiny sea snails and was extremely rare. was therefore extremely expensive. Purple was worn not only to show wealth also to signal authority, prestige and power. The Persian king, Cyrus, was known for wearing purple robe for royal ceremonies.
Purple, a blend of rich red and blue colours, everywhere in royal life back then. Rulers wore purple robes and signed letters with purple ink. Royal children were described as being “born in the purple”.
